New Jersey WIC Online Shopping and Delivery Planning

Project Summary:

New Jersey WIC (NJ WIC) is in the planning stages of developing the WIC online shopping solution and has already appropriated state funding to offset the cost of delivering food to WIC participants. NJ WIC will be working with Wakefern (one of the largest WIC vendors in the state) to work out the mechanics of how delivery fees will be charged and how state funds for delivery can be separated from federal funds for food. NJ WIC will use Wakefern as a model for authorizing other vendors, which may have separate online entities for the fulfillment of WIC purchases.

NJ WIC will work closely with CNHI to conduct planning activities to prepare to implement WIC online shopping with a goal of working with various WIC-authorized vendors in the region to meet the needs and preferences of their WIC participants. NJ WIC plans to engage EBT processors and retailers in their state to discuss and identify the technical design of the WIC online shopping solution.
